A Gentleman in Moscow begins in and centers on the life of Russian aristocrat Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov. Before the novel’s opening, the Count had lived a life of luxury in Moscow’s Metropol hotel. When a poem with revolutionary subtext is attributed to the Count, however, he is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol for the remainder of his lifetime. The Moscow Cipher is book seventeen in the Ben Hope series of action thrillers. This story takes Ben to Moscow in search of a kidnapped child. However, he soon gets mixed up in some sinister events which began in and involve secret plans with brain implants. Another fast faced action packed story and one that fans of this author will enjoy/5. Thus begins the reader’s long and enchanting acquaintance with the count over four decades, during which Rostov does not leave the hotel. But the world definitely comes to him. Somewhat akin to the Grand Hotel, the great and near great, guests, and staff populate this novel, and Count Rostov is the moving force in many of their adventures.
